Purcell (1659 - 1695), was a chorister in the Chapel Royal who became an organ maker. He was one of the greatest composers of the Baroque period and one of the greatest of all English composers.
Following music he made for the church, he became increasingly in demand as a composer. It is worth checking out this album because it never fails to life my spirits.
